Bio


Cate Christen Waung
Cate has been educated at the Montesserrat  College of Art in Massachusetts, Memphis College of Art, Memphis, Tennessee, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA and the Shanghai Oil Painting Institute in Shanghai, China.  Currently residing in Connecticut, Cate continues to develop her style and skills by attending various classes and workshops in the area.  Cate is accomplished in watercolor painting, pastel drawing, oil painting and acrylic painting.  Most  current pieces are created in acrylic on large gallery wrapped canvas.  Layer after layer of paint and glaze are applied until she accomplished the desired look.  Cate's work is sometimes representation, generally a bit abstract and sometimes it has a folk art appeal.  Cate is best known for her "signature" red tulip paintings, primitive "chicken" motif folk arts and moody contemporary abstracts.  Cate's painting can be found in private collections throughout the United States.  Currently her work can be viewed at Palladios International Antique Market, Memphis, Tennessee, Hartford Medical Group, Glastonbury, Connecticut and on-line at Artspan.
